Changes in PixFiler 5.2.10 (28-Jan-2008)
- Bugfixes
- missing or corrupted files were not displayed correctly. In stead of showing the error image, PixFiler displayed a blank screen or the thumbnail of another image.
- fixed a problem that caused strange bahaviour if you added new photos, then deleted one of the photo files before PixFiler had created a thumbnail.
- it was not possible to delete categories that had no photos in them.
- fixed a problem that could cause the program to crash when adding new photos. This could happen if there were a corrupted image file among the first 50 files added.
- several minor fixes to make the program more stable.

- disabled some operations that could cause errors in read only mode.
- fixed a bug that caused problems in the fuction that asks for the meaning of unknown words in the date field.

Changes in PixFiler 5.2.6 (01-Sep-2008)
- Improvements
- PixFiler will now ask you to insert the CD if the background process needs to collect information about one or more of the photos om that CD.
- Bugfixes
- fixed a problem that could make changes in annotations or categories to revert back to the original value.
- the background process had problems handling CDs with ' in the volume name.
- in some instances, the volume name of a CD was not stored in the volume description table. This made it impossible to add/modify a description for this CD.
- the program would crash if you tried to export to a CSV file without entering a file name.
- categories with no photos were not shown in the Navigator.

- fixed a problem that sometimes caused places not to be updated in the Navigator
- the background processing could be blocked if PixFiler had problems creating a thumbnail
- the program could crash if saved database name was deleted from the Registry
- photos stored on CD/DVD would not be displayed if drive had changed letter since photos were added to the database.

- a resource leak have been fixed. This could cause PixFiler to hang/crash after some time use.
- PixFiler will now keep track of which computer is running the background processing in multi user installation thus avoiding all connected computers doing this. This could cause all access to the database to become very slow.
- modifications to the database locking system so multiple computers will run better.
- fixed a problem that could cause PixFiler to not open the thumbnail database. This would cause the thumbnail display to be slow until the program was restarted.

- each separator appeared twice in the separator list in the CSV Export Form.
- comma is now the default separator when making CSV files (after all, it's called CSV).
- ' in filename of the image file would cause the file to not be added to the database
- when you tried to add photos from a CD/DVD, PixFiler would not prompt for a description for the CD/DVD. It would neither ask you to insert the CD/DVD later when clicking on a thumbnail.

- a bug that could cause annotations to be saved to the wrong picture has been fixed. It's very unlikely that this could happen.
- it's now possible to stop/start the background process manually. You can also disable background processing completely.
- a bug causing PixFiler to hang on startup when no database was selected has been fixed.
- Sometimes a black area can be seen on the lower part of thumbnails. This is only temporarily and the background process will automatically fix this.
- the database software has been upgraded. This upgrade fixes several bugs and will improve performance for some operations.
- lots of extra error checking has been added to the PixFiler database interface routines so the chance of database problems has been reduced.
- ratings in Navigator sometimes produced an error.

- the background processing system will now prioritize the last entered batch of photos when processing new photos
- program is now installed for all users on the computer. Only the user that installs the software need to enter license code. The code will be valid for all users on this computer.
- Bugfixes
- the 'Add Photos' did not always process the right photos if several batches were entered just after another. This could cause the photos to display slowly.
- you were sometimes asked to send the event log even if there were no new events. This could happen when multiple users were connected to the same database.
- several minor bugs have been fixed.

- Bugfixes
- two error messages would be displayed at program startup if the photo index was located on a read only device, for example on a CD. This caused CDs created with PixFiler to fail.

- Navigator now lets you browse by date, not only by year or month as in previous versions.

- words that ended with ? or : in the description field were not searchable
- tab characters caused problems if you used cut/paste to move text to description field.
- multiple lines in the descrition field caused the with of the thumbnail pop-up box to be wrong.
- setting default rating did not work.
- Copy to clipboard" sometimes gave the message "i" and didn't copy the photo.

- if you had multiple photos attached to a description, the buttons used to select photo would not always display.
- sometimes the photos were resized wrong when creating web pages. Photos on the album page were often too large and small photos were sometimes enlarged.

Changes in version 5.1.2
- Improvements
- it's now possible to disable the rating stars. Set this in the 'Add/edit fields' form.
- the default button in the annotation form has been moved to 'Save >>'. You can now just press the enter key to save and go to next picture.
- Bugfixes
- fixed a bug in the license checking system that affects customers that bought a BR's PhotoArchiver license lately and are using this license key in PixFiler. This should be ok, but PixFiler thinks the code is illegal and shuts down the program. This problem also made it difficult to enter a new legal license code.
- 'and not' did not work for IDs the Advanced Search.
- aposrophe in an event caused problems in the Navigator View (bug introduced when fixing bug in 5.1.1).
Changes in version 5.1.1

- you can now use 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' to go to next and previous picture in the full screen view.

- CDs created from PixFiler 5.1 would produce a 'Missing component' error when run.

- New fetures
- photos can be sent as emails. They will automatically be resized and compressed.
- see where the photo was taken on a map. Requires EXIF-GPS information in the photo file and an Internet connection.
- the rating of a photo is now shown as 1-5 stars in the prevew and full views. You can set the rating by clicking on the stars. During upgrade to 5.1, all existing ratings will be updated so 5 becomes the best rating, not 1 as in older versions. The following conversions will be done: 1->5, 2->4, 3->3, 4->1.
- added support for DNG (Adobe Digital Negative) file format.
- a new form for Adding/Renaming/Deleting categories have been added.
- category names can now be exported/imported. This makes it possible to move the category names from one photo index to another.
- You can now search for empty fields, for example photos without a place specified.

- you can now rate the photos by pressing the buttons 1 to 5. Works both in preview and full view.
- images shown in the full screen view are now optimized so diagonal lines looks better.
- it's now possible to search for unrated photos in the Navigator.
- You can now choose what to display below the thumbnails. Up to three lines of text can be shown.
- adding new photos are now a lot faster.
- the routines that decodes the image files have been changed.
- resize thubnails by using ctrl+scroll wheel.
- uses user defined field name in stead of fixed field name in Navigator View.
